What is physics and chemistry?

Ask: What is physics and chemistry?

Physics, originally known as physical science, explains the most of how this world works and its fundamentals. Chemistry, is the study of different chemicals like the molecular structure of water.

Answer:

Physical chemistry is the study of macroscopic and microscopic phenomena in chemical systems in terms of the principles, practices, and concepts of physics such as motion, energy, force, time, thermodynamics, quantum chemistry, statistical mechanics, analytical dynamics and chemical equilibrium.

An example of physical chemistry is nitric acid eating through wood.

Wilhelm Ostwald: Founder of Physical Chemistry and Nobel Laureate 1909

Why is physical chemistry important?

Physical chemistry is essential to understanding the other branches of chemistry. It provides a basis for understanding the thermodynamic influences (principally, the entropy changes accompanying reactions) that drive chemical reactions forward

Physical chemistry is a part of our everyday life. The batteries in our vehicles use the principle of electrochemistry. The photosynthetic process of green plants is an example of physical chemistry applied by biological systems. Solar devices change energy from sunlight into electrical energy.

Which is harder physics or chemistry?

Ask: Which is harder physics or chemistry?

I think, chemistry.  Because you need to know every detail in the periodic table unlike the physics on which you can apply it (more) in real life especially if your planning to be an engineer. (just my opinion)

As others have said, there’s a lot more to learn in undergraduate chemistry than undergraduate physics.   In physics, there are a half dozen basic equations that everything else follows from, and most of your time is spent learning the mathematics and standard tricks of how to unpack those equations and apply them to specific problems.  While chemistry in principle follows from the same basic principles, in practice it’s too hard to predict most chemical behavior from the fundamental equations, so you have to learn lots of rules of thumb, heuristics, higher-level concepts that help make the behavior more predictable.

For someone who really likes math, physics is usually a lot easier than disciplines like chemistry and biology where a lot of memorization is needed.  The chemistry students I’ve taught were often quite good in physics, but those who struggled did so because they wanted a simple, straightforward recipe to apply to problems, which is rarely possible in physics. At higher levels, in grad school or as a practitioner, even physicists usually have to remember a lot of practical information (who wrote what in which paper, what company makes the best low-noise widgets, etc.), so people with poor memories are still at some disadvantage.

The short answer: try both, and study the one you enjoy

The 300 students in a school may enroll in any

Ask: The 300 students in a school may enroll in any of the three subjects; Math, Physics and Chemistry. If 60 enrolled in Math, 71 in Physics, 68 in chemistry, 15 in all three subjects, 12 in chemistry and physics, 23 in Math and Physics and 13 only in chemistry.
a) How many are enrolled in Math only?
b) How many are enrolled in Physics only?
c) How many are enrolled in Math and Chemistry?

60 students are enrolled in Math only, 71 in Physics, and an estimated 200 in both Chemistry and Math.
